AENOR is an entity with two main activity areas. Firstly, it is legally responsible for the development of technical standards in Spain and, secondly, it is the leading certifying body in fields such as quality management, environmental management, products, work health and safety, R&D, etc.

Standards are prepared by general consent with the participation of all interested parties, which results in the solution with the best success potential in its implementation. Currently, the AENOR catalogue has over 28,500 standards. Its presence in European and global standardisation forums guarantees the participation of Spain in establishing internationally-applied standards.

AENOR also strives to promote and spread a mindset that associates its brand with quality, therefore making the brand a valuable tool for those who seek excellence. To achieve this, it guarantees accuracy, impartiality and technical competence in its certification services: its principle credential and value statement. It creates certifications that meet new needs in companies and institutions in areas such as sustainability, accessibility and R&D. It is the first Spanish entity and sixth in the world to be accredited by the UN for the testing of greenhouse effect emissions under the Kyoto protocol.

AENOR is also a publishing house that launches 200 projects per year and it has a training centre with more than 5,000 students.  AENOR has 900 members including professional organisations, companies, public administrations and individuals.
