Silestone® is made using the very latest technology, in an industrial process which uses 93% quartz, in addition to glass, reflectors and polyester resin. These components are compacted under high pressure and at a constant temperature, resulting in a material of exceptional quality. In early 2005, as the result of a long research process the new antibacterial Silestone® product was launched.

Antibacterial Silestone® is made by applying during the manufacturing process an active component developed in conjunction with Microban International Ltd, which helps to fight the growth and/or spread of bacteria that may come into contact with the surface. Microban is also effective against the growth of mould which leads to stains, odours and damages the product.

Keeping the same Silestone® colours and appearance, this new worktop is one of the safest, and most resilient and hygienic in the world.

Due to its characteristics, it has also become the preferred material for use in laboratories, restaurants, hospitals, etc., where maximum hygiene is required.
