Lepanto is the top-quality Brandy from the González Byass bodegas. It falls under the Gran Reserva Brandy category, and is the only one to manage some growth within this market.
Speaking about Lepanto is its old golden tone, very light, with pleasant aroma of old oak. Its unique nature is reflected in the exclusive design of its bottles.
The secret behind the elaboration of Lepanto is in the distillation of the best sherries from Jerez, which is known as holandas (with about 70 per cent alcohol). Its maturing process is completed exclusively in American oak, previously used for sherry. Only a small amount of the brandy held in the oldest barrels, those closest to the floor (soleras), deserves to be bottled under the Lepanto name. The next step is to replace the brandy taken from the solera with some from the next layer of barrels, which is not that old. And so until the brandy reaches the bottom (criadera). The holandas are methodically mixed with the oldest brandies, until it attains the required smoothness and bouquet, in a process lasting no less than 15 years.
González Byass is a family business dedicated to the maturing and ageing of sherries and brandies. Together with the famous Tío Pepe wine, the company's flagship brand, the Soberano and Lepanto brandies complete an important part of the crown of strategic brands for the group on the national market and that of the 115 countries to which it exports.
