Recovering historical viticulture and giving it a future

The wine tradition of ViniGalicia was goes back over half a century to the Galician town of Chantada. In 1976, Manuel Méndez and his sons founded Vinícola de Chantada, S.A.

Now, some 20 years after its foundation, with the third generation of the family now on board, ViniGalicia has been created: a company bringing together Vinícola de Chantada with other companies – Vía Romana Adegas e Viñedos, Bodegas Cervantino y Aceite Latino – as well as other wineries around the different Galician designations of origin controlled by the group.

Just two years after the creation of ViniGalicia, it had gained a presence in the main quality wine segments. The fast and dynamic growth of the company coupled with its solid positioning allowed it to launch a growth process. The acquisition of new wineries in the main Galician and Spanish designations of origin allowed the company to enter into a new phase and develop its project in new markets it believed held potential.

Today, the ViniGalicia winery group offers a wide range of products and has a presence in more than 40 countries where the brand enjoys high consumer acceptance.

Only a love for wine can explain the struggle and determined effort to recover the historic vineyards of the area and to develop it with great hopes for the future. Today these motivations are joined by a new one: that its wide range of wine products should gain international renown.
